You guys know I don't care much about sports in general, but I thought this would intrest some of you. Another shame.:???:

what a way to start the new year...

Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting early Monday, his limousine sprayed with bullets in downtown Denver.

Team spokesman Jim Saccomano said police called him about 3 a.m. from the scene and told him three people had been shot, and the 24-year-old Williams had been killed. The killing came hours after the Broncos were eliminated from the playoff race.

A little after 2 a.m., a white Hummer limousine was fired on from a vehicle that pulled up along its side, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. There were at least eight bullet holes in the limo.

Three people in the limo were hit and were taken to hospitals, where one man was pronounced dead, Jackson said. The other man and woman who were shot were not identified.

Jackson said police were searching for suspects and interviewing witnesses

Dude, that kinda stuff never happens out here!! That's crazy. I was at a club last night where Jay Cutler (the Bronco QB) had a private party in the VIP and he was hanging out with several other players. I wonder if that happened near me.

There were cops all over the place, but I figured that was just because it was NYE.

I was super happy when my Niners beat the locals but that sucks.

Holy crap, I was just reminded by my friend Nikki that when we were walking to a car we walked infront of a Hummer limo!!! I remember I mentioned how stupid looking that Hummer limos look.

I wonder if that was the same one. Did anyone hear the name of the club? I was at club "Spill" next to another club "Monarck".

I wonder if it was a hit? If that is uncommon in that area then it being random violence seems unlikely.

That's what I was thinking. Also, of note Javon Walker (Wide Reciever) was also in the limo, but wasn't hit. He's a multiple pro bowl guy.

I kinda doubt it. Two stations reported that someone in the limo were involved in an "altercation" at the club just prior to the shooting.

The owner of my company is a huge Bronco's fan and has seaons box tickets in a fancy suite. He was heading out to see the game with another co-worker and two little kids, driving right into the snowstorm. I'm sure he'll take another week out of the office to be in mourning over it.

Yeah, the story has been clarified now. There was a fight between William's FRIEND and some random guy at a club. The shooting was retaliation. Atleast it still wasn't random...

[90Xjay being sarcastic]Boy going out to clubs is fun huh? That nightlife is where it's at![/90Xjay being sarcastic]

I don't want to be disrespectful to the man who was killed or his family.
I just have never liked the "club scene". The few times I went out when I was single it always ended up with some drunk fool trying to fight someone over some drunk chick. The music is so loud it hurts your ears, you can't carry on a conversation with another sober person without yelling and people are bumping into you spilling beer and dropping cigarette ashes all over.

Nothing positive hardly ever comes out of a nightclub. Lives are usually wrecked instead. They are a base for alcholic drivers to get drunked up and go kill a innocent family, people cheating on their mates, and drug use.
sorry for the rant, this guy's death just seems a terrible shame and he would be alive today had he chosen to stay home with a few close friends and party instead.:(

I like clubs, I like dancing, I don't think there's anything wrong with them. You have to be aware of the crowd of the club you are hanging out in. You know if the bar you're going to is a "tough crowd" or not.

I've never gotten into a fight at a club. Only place I've ever come close to a fight out here in Denver was at Little India Restaurant with some guy who was talking to himself like a crazy person.

This city is super safe, but it seems like anytime someone is killed out here, it's news worthy. (Columbine, Hostage situation in the Mountains, Darrent Williams.)

:agree:

I never cared for the "club scene" either. Pretty much for all the points you made above. Yeah, I spent some time in clubs when I was younger, but just because that's where everyone else was going. I was usually the DD for them, as alcohol has never really been my bag, either. When I go out, I like to be able to talk with the people I'm with. That's why I always preferred to chill at home or at a friend's home. I've never been in a fight at a bar or club, either, but I've seen my share of them, and it was, as you said, pretty much a regular event everytime I went out. There was always a running joke between me and my cousin that we wouldn't want to go home from a club with the type of girls that would go home with us from a club!!

That's just because you two were dorks back then.

I'd hate the club scene too if I was clubbing back in the 70's, and didn't get in because I was a member of the Brady Bunch fan club or the chess team. Bitter are we?

Bee Gee's and feathered hair...ya, that's hot! LOL...JK.

It's no secret that I grew up in the DEEEEEEP south. It's still very much home and I love it. I can not remember a single time, in any of the many bar fights I have gotten in, worrying someone would come back with a gun. You might get your butt whipped, if you ****ed off a girlfriend you might get your rig keyed,... but no one died. It's a different mindset. I've tried formany years to put my finger on it and cant. You get rowdy, drunk beat up, and spend the night in jail. In Splendora 9 times out of 10 you weren't even charged.

I dont know if it's because you know pretty much everyone, and anomimity is hard to come by, or a respect factor, or what,... but I know it is different.

I miss home.....

I just don't understand the need to kill someone because he didn't give you "your props". Very tragic.

Heck it was like that in Harford County, MD when I was a young(er) man. I read the other day that they are now dealing with the influx of MS13 gang members... what a difference a couple decades make :(
