Well was out today going to a work site in the middle of know were when I Mad a New road due to fact that the primary driveway was under construction. mowed down a few small trees and what not with little trouble besides going back and retrieving my front license plate ;) . So later I decided to do some more off roading so I went up a hill a few times but ended up in a rut no problem made it out fine and had no indications of a problem till later when I was getting ready to hit the high way and as soon as I hit around 40mph I had a Wobble of Death. I could not see anything wrong, moved it to 2wd tried again, still had a death wobble. so I thought I would see if somone might have a clue what it might be, It is in the front wheels. Also ended up with a roofing nail in the tire later in the day. THe good thing fom the day though was I meet a guy that knew a little something of my bumper and come to find out him and his buddies are Extreme offroaders as in they trailer their jeeps in and out, and we exchanged info and am surpose to go out if i can fix the jeep :( But anyways if somone has any clue would be great.
THanks in advance,

Check all the steering components for play, crawl under the front end and give the tie rod, drag link, and trackbar a good shake. Look for play in any of the bushings/joints.

That said, I think there's a good chance you may have just thrown the front end out of alignment. If all your steering components look good, get an alignment. If you missed anything a good shop will pick it up.

going to check that all out today. THanks will let you know what I find. Oh, the trees were going to get bulldozed for a new drive on private land, so it's all ok ;)

From talking with you before, I figured you were smart enough not to go blasting through places you shouldn't.;)

exactly I wasn't in any places I shouldn't have been, was just helping out :driving-g wish I had photos of my expidetion.

As for your Death Wobble, how big were the trees? Is it possible you bent a steering linkage or tie rod on one of them?

The trees I don't think were the cause, I had no such problem after I was done at the work site and drove to my Next excursion.up the side of a hill. I think what got me into trouble was the rut my tire went into that I so delicately worked my way out of seeing how it was turning my jeep side ways which is not a good thing on a steep hill. From what I can tell all is good with the steering, my hunch is that I may have thrown a weight off my wheel but with the amout of wobble and as violently it is shaking I it would have had to be some weight, going to try throwning the tires to the back and moving the others forward and see if that does it. If not I'm going to curse the jeep then tell it how much I love it and pull my hair out and curse some more, though I know it won't fix the jeep at least it will make me feel better for a whole 30 seconds till I think of something else to check out.
THanks for the help so far,

FOUND IT, it was my tires, I must have trown a weight or to so they are on the rear now. I am going to take it to the shop and have the tires rebalenced and see if that was it. Thanks for all the feedback. I am just so happy that I have my jeep back up and on the road, sucks not being able to leave town, cause you can't go over 40.
Thanks again,
Laph
