Bad weather here

We've had freezing rain and ice on overnight here. Even if my Jeep was in operating order I don't think it'd make much difference. The road is like a skate rink. It's bad enough the sheriff has grounded the patrol cars. Anybody else get iced?

Chains are very effective on ice.I get it every year, not yet this year.

I'll be driving from SC to Knoxville on Saturday then on to Memphis the next day so I hope that stuff clears up by then.

Where I'm at it's been snowing since 12:20 pm eastern pacific time and I might get hit with more snow overnight so hopefully you guys as well as me drive safely and don't flip your jeeps and cause an accident this winter

It's been snowing since about noon and we have around an inch on the ground here in Baltimore. A little bit west of here they have more snow.

I've been toying with the idea of taking my Jeep to Green Ridge State Forest to go wheeling tomorrow since I'm off work. They supposedly have (or will have) 3-4" of snow over there. Think it's a good idea?

I think that's a terrible idea if you don't have a set of either goodyear or firestone monster truck tires with a good set of beadlocks

It's been warmer here than usual during this season. We've had ice and a little snow from the past and i just cant find a snow chain that would go around my tires. I ended up getting a pack of 200 count short self tapping hex head screws and i staggered them on the center lugs on my tires with a cordless drill. It worked well but my advise is to take them off before the heads wears out otherwise it will be a PITA to pull it out of the tire. Just sayi'n.8)

It melted enough to make a trip to town about 4:30, had to go a different route than usual there was a big tree over the road. Saw several cars that had pulled off and been left. Main roads were ok I guess but I live in the sticks and sun wont get to the roads much probably refreeze tonite.

Do they make chains to fit a 31-10.50? If not I may pick up a set of cheap used tires and try the screw trick. I'm guessing you'd use a pretty short screw right?

the other night we got 2 feet of snow here was playing with the jeep it was a blast took 2 days ta get cleaned out up here they shut down I-94 from hudson wis to tomah wis we had alot of fun everyone drive safe and keep the tires faceing the pavement

You a Deputy? I worked last night in the ice, it was rough. Cars off the road everywhere, only one was overturned. I hate being on the side of the road in those conditions, seen too many vehicles spinning out of control toward me.

No, I'm good friends with one though. You just can't do much with ice. I've never tried chains but they may help on ice. I'm headed out to see if I can make it to work. Untill I get my Jeep going I've been driving my wifes toyota paseo. I'm just too big for this little car[ 6'4 270 ]. She's got a newer honda pilot but she loves this little paseo and I'd hate to wreck it. So I'm a little more cautious than I would be if I had that old CJ going. Besides if I do wreck it they'll need a can opener to get me out of it.
