Axle identification (wheel bearing problem)

Hello all

I am working on a cj 7 1979 front hub. My friend got this jeep for a steal so he thought he'd invest some money in it. I'll upload photos at a later date but for now we have a problem. I believe that the front axle is not the original one for the jeep. we spent a lot on money on lockers and hubs just to find out the bearings will not slide into place on the back side. So is there a way to find out what axle / spindle we have so we can get right ones. Thanks

Upload some photos of your axle and the pumpkin when you get a chance. That should aid in identification.
