Will the AX15 5 speed bolt up to the Dana 300 transfer case? Any problems to be aware of?

The D300 will bolt right up to the AX15. They have the same bolt pattern and spine as long as you are using an 80's era jeep D300. The adapters above are clocking rings that may be needed if the front output shaft isn't in the right location. Here is a clocking ring jig that can also be used.
