Another belly up question

RE: Dude, Nice Pumpkins

Hey. I've been looking around on the net trying to find out as much info as I can about doing a belly up. I see most people adjust their pinion angle in line with the driveshaft. Is this necessary with a 3" suspension lift? I have my SYE kit sitting here and plan on gettting the driveshaft made up after I get the flat skidplate installed. I don't want to bother with cutting and rewelding the spring perches if I don't have to because I plan on replacing the rear axle sometime in the next year or two. Will it damage the CV joints on the driveshaft if I don't reangle it and will I have any vibes in the driveline?

im the same, ive been looking recently for a belly up. i saw teraflexs, but a 2" body lift is more than i want, i already have a 1" BL, and i dont like it.

i saw AFWs skid, i like it, but id really like a belly up, with miniamal xtra work, especially in the driveline since i just reset my pinion angle... i suppose i could use soome shims...

RE: high cost of heat this winter

You will get vibes if the pinion ujoint angle is anything besides 0º, and these vibes will eat the double cardan joint as well as transfer case bearings. I recommend cutting and rewelding the spring perches, it's easy to cut them and set it up if you have somebody that can burn them in for you.

I 'thought' close enough was good when my shims had my pinion-driveshaft angle close to 0º, boy was I wrong. Smooth as silk now that it's corrected.

Consider cutting/hammering the tub for clearance if you want a belly-up without the recommended bodylift height.

I already have a 3" bodylift so I'm good there. My rear bumper/tire carrier hides most of the gap at the rear and when I get my winch, that'll hide the gap up front. I like the bodylift because it also allows me to run my York upright reducing the oil discharge.
