annoying clicking

I just bought and lifted a 2000 XJ and have taken it off road a few times already. About 2 months ago I heard a clicking noise down by the wheel everytime I brake and make a right turn. One of my buddies said that my U-Joint could be either worn out or just straight up busted and I was just wondering if anybody else has had a problem similar to that so I can get a second opinion. Also, if it is the U-Joint, would it be very difficult to fix at home or would I have to bring it in? My friend is really good at mechanic work and actually installed a body lift on his Tacoma in his driveway. Any help would be great, thank you.

if its when you brake it might be your caliper going, u joints arent hard to replace if you have a few tools, a vice is the most necesarry and will make life the easiest so if it turns out to be a u joint ur lucky, otherwise have fun figuring out what it is because clicking on a jeep can be just about anything, just remember what jeep stands for: Just Empty Every Pocket

the clicking noise adds "character"

Hi,

If a U-joint is broken, you'd have more issues than just a clicking noise.

Worn U-joints, now that's very likely. U-joints are not hard to do. I've changed them without a vice, and it is a tad harder, but very doable. What you REALLY need is a socket set, as the correct sized socket helps alot. You basically set the socket face down on the u-joint caps then smack the socket with a hammer to push the joint out.

Need some help, broke the zipper on my rear window......

well, after a few hours of work we got it done and the problem was the u-joint. the clicking is finally gone!!! thought it wasnt too hard of an install, i do recommend using a vice if possible, it would have made the job a lot eaiser.
