Air pressure on new tires

So I got my new tires a few weeks ago (Goodyear MT/Rs) and I finally get around to checking the air pressure in them. Each tire had 39.5 pounds of pressure. I know on the sidewall it says max 50lbs but 39.5 still seems high to me. I lowered them all to 32.0 and it rides much better. When I had them installed, I thought, man these new tires ride rough. Just too much air, I guess.

Is that around where most people run theirs or should I go lower?

I got 33" MT/Rs I run them around 30 for normal driving

Remove the splash shield???

Yeah, the tire shop recommended 35psi for my Kumhos pretty rough ride but hey, rather have rough and last than confy and have to buy newones

I run 10-14 offroad and 45-50 on road. 285/75/16 Also mounted on a truck.
