:???: ok so im not sure if this is the right place to ask this or not. but here i go.. im in the market to buy an aftermarket d44 for the front on my xj.. i can find alot of high pinion ones but alot of then comme without knuckles. they say resuse your factory dana 30 knuckles. my question is doesnt that still leave the weak d30 stub shafts? would i be better off just keeping my d30? im planing on running 37x13 boggers or 36x12.50 tsl. i just dont want to have to worry so much about my front axle. a d44 would survive alot more abuse then my d30 will.. any input will be great..

thanks chance

You can't use your d30 outers or stubshafts. But then again why would you?

All the HP44's I know of are full-width, is that what you're wanting to go with? The steering knuckles are easy to source from many fab sites and Ebay, you probably want to get your own anyway to ensure you get flat-tops for high steer arms and the proper spindle bolt pattern.

I used a Chevy knuckle on the DS and a Waggy knuckle on the PS, in order to get flattops on both sides.

A lot of your knuckle selection depends on what wheel lug pattern you want to run, and which outer axleshafts you'll use.
