A Very Proud Day For Me!!!

My 10-year old son, Michael, has Asperger's Syndrome, which is a mild form of Autism. He has always kind of kept to himself and not shown much interest in the things I like. He's an extremely bright kid, and he gets A's and B's in school.

Today my heart almost skipped a beat, when I saw this...

I thought he might have caught me on the third shot, but he just kept playing.

I think I might have just found the right thing to help him out of his shell.

I'm glad to see he found an interest with your Jeep. It's great to get the children involved while they are young. They seem to grow up smarter and wiser and in turn , more responsible.

My nephew has Asperger's, and he too is a good kid overall. When I drug the Willy's home, he was riding his bike by and came over to check it out. I asked all kinds of questions, and it surprised me how mechanical minded he was. He would ask a question about what something does, and after I'd explained the function of it and how it worked with the rest of the truck, he would very quickly comprehend how it worked with the rest of the components. It took him about 5 minutes of schooling to learn how the hydraulic clutch system worked. He swings over every once in a while while I'm wrenching "just to help out". I think it's cool, and it's neat to see him learn new things that his dad can't/won't teach him. He gets frustrated with him, but it's normally about things he doesn't care about. You put him on an old, rusty Jeep, and he's in heaven.

That is really cool. My 7 year old daughter has Autism. She doesn't know a lot of words, but her favorite words right now are "bye bye" and "Jeep", and she usually uses them together. She is a daddies girl for sure. I can understand how big of a deal it is for you to see your son playing in your Jeep. Keep your head up. These kids are awesome. My daughter has taught me a lot about myself.

I'm sure there are people who would say, "Why me"? I look at Mikey and say, "Thank you, God"! He is the most awesome kid in the world. He has taught me to be a better person. He can tell you anything you ever wanted to know about the Presidents, the Titanic, the Civil War and now he's learning about our CJ. Everyday he comes home from school and asks me if he can play on the Jeep. I tell him that, if he finishes his homework and does it right, he can crawl all over it. He asked if he could help me replace all the clutch linkage, as soon as it comes in from Quadratec. I said, "Absolutely"!
