a nice day in the jeep

my oldest son and i had a fun day of soccer and it was a nice day for a few jeep pictures too.

these are taken by the ferry in port aransas, texas. this is about 30 minutes from my house but is all the way across the bay from my house.

it seemed like jeeps are the number one car in this town. every other car was a jeep, almost

this boat went through the channel while we were waiting for the team to show up. tons of dolphins jumping in front of it. a big sea turtle swam by the seawall too.

those little ferry's hold 20 cars and are a decent size flat boat but compared to the big oil rig (or whatever they haul in those) they look tiny

Jeeps are very popular here as well.... there everywhere!!

Yep...soccer games & jeeps... The story of my life... Well, at least 16 years of it!!!
My youngest is the fisherman in the family and he loves Port A!!!!
He & my husband like to take the 4 hour Scat Cat/Wharf Cat trips to fish... They were just down there in August...




Back in the mid-late 80's we were in a
4x4 club... Used to go to Port A alot..
Big Shell/ Little Shell???????
May not even exist anymore ....
Hah! The First time we went to Port A in a jeep.(it was the maroon CJ7)
We thought we were smart to ride Down with the hard top on...( We were taking our dog & weren't sure how he would do on the trip from SA with no top at all...)
No problem...We would just leave it in the room while out on beach ...After all... Plenty of club members with us to help lift it off....
Ok we were staying in the "Rock Cottages".... Pretty sure the jeep was bigger than the room!!! Getting that top in & out of the room was crazy!!
We learned a lot about the pros & cons of hard tops on that trip;-)
But it was fun...
On the beach ... In a jeep.. With views like this

i love the wharf cat/ scat cat trips. they are a blast. big shell and little shell are still here and those cottages are still in port a, if they are the ones i am thinking of.

those evening sunsets and then the morning sunrises are always beautiful
