A/C bearing question

I have a 97 tj with the 2.5. It's starting to get in the high 100s here in az :(, so I have started using my ac well it blows cold. The compressor kicks on when its suppose to but I have noticed a noise when the compressor is kicked on at high rpms above let's say 2500 rpms. It only does it when the compressor is on and no other time. I'm sure it is coming from the ac my question is do you guys think its the bearing? And is it easy to replace, I can't seem to find a write up for it thanks in advance

I think if it's a bearing in the ccompressor, just replace the ccompressor and have a shop charge your system. Make sure it's not just the a belt slipping though

No its not the belt. Brand new and its tensioned almost perfect. Theres a bearing inside the compressor too? Don't I have to get the whole system vacummed out and then recharged then put new oil?

yup. might be more cost efficient to have the shop do everything.

Ya seeing the I don't have any a/c equipment. Is it fine to drive on it? Only makes the noise when the ac is on so it shouldn't harm anything?

no, its fine. i don;t even have the evaporator on mine right now and i have been driving on it for a while like that

Who needs ac anyway when its 100 out and you have the ability to take the roof and doors off

Even with the top down and doors off the AC does help a little. Especially when sitting at lights when there is no breeze coming in.
