98 cherokee 4.5 inches...

mornin folks...

i look in here on and off...i got rid of most of my jeep stuff since it was a money pit...and the fact that if it;s not a old as hell harley or a plane i can;t keep it runnin...but i still have a 98 cherokee...

anyhow while i was in china for 7 months the beloved wife of mine decided to lift her jeep...3 inches...and throw some 31 10.50's on it...i told her they would rub but she inststed her brother said it would be fine...well...it rubs...so much so that all 4 fender flares have since been ripped off...that has nothing to do with me jumping snow drifts though...i blame her completely...

anyway...i ordered a 4.5 inch lift today from rough country...and i got to thinkin...it did not say anything about longer brake lines...but it did say something about brake line brackets...

i'm guessing i'm gonna need some longer brake lines to go into the brackets personally...but maybe one of you wiser jeepsters can school me on this...

thanks guys...you;re verything i wanna be when i grow up...

You can use '95 YJ brake lines in the front, and a '98 Dakota brake line in the rear.

I sold my MJ to a guy from Dayton, he had a website like extremetj.com or something similar. Know him? He built the MJ and sold it.

no i don;t...i live about 30 miles east of dayton in a town called wilmington...maybe more southeast...i'm not really from this area...only been here abotu 8 years now...

Did you flex it out to rip off the fenders or just running normally on the street. I'm running 31's on 3 inches of lift and just had to make a few cuts in the front flairs. However I will be taking off road this weekend for the first time so we'll see what happens there.

the "wife" was jumping snow banks...yeah she did it...

when you turn it rubbed pretty good...if you turn all the way...enough to drive me nuts...i cut a little off but not alot...

i'm in the middle of throwing this thing on now...not so bad but it sucks doin it alone ya know...

Thats weird i had no problems.

Anyways are you finding it difficult to install the lift? Many modifications beyond the pieces theyve sent you. I'm still pretty new at this but a buddy of mine custom made a lift for his explorer so i do have help with this type of stuff

Depending on how my jeep holds up I might upgrade to a 4.5 inch lift as well and run 33's. My buddy gave me a ford 8.8 i might swap in as well from his truck.

it;s pretty much all bolt on...you drill one hole, other than that you are good to go...however if i did it again i would go a different route...i would check to see how much the front coils, rear shackles, transmission drop kit, and the lower control arms were before i bought the whole kit...i found the add-a-leaf springs for the rear are the same springs they sent me for the 3 in lift...so all i have to do is install the shakles...

i'm sure if your buddy is building custom lifts then you have the right tools for the job...my biggest issue was tooling really...i had very few metric tools...and none above 19MM...i would certainly prefer to buy an air ratchet next time to...

i think the backspacing on her wheels are what was making her tires rub...i'm not sure what they are really but they stick out of her wheel wells a good inch and a half...maybe 2...
