93 XJ - won't turn over

power door locks stopped working, then next day wouldn't start... wouldn't even turn over.

ammeter swings to max right position when i turn key. sounds electrical to me... fuses & battery okay.

unplugged & replugged cps... it started, so replaced cps. couple of days later... dead again.

any ideas appreciated.

CPS? Crankshaft position sensor?. That's the first i've heard of the CPS to cause that. However, i know that if the CKP is shorted to voltage or shorted to ground, there will be numerous anomaly's on the cluster and will cause a no start condition. Check for spark and fuel to verify the condition.
