Hi all, My transmission is going out, 3rd is already gone, and was considering changing myself. I have changed transmissions before but not in a jeep. I was wondering on a scale of 1-10 , 10 being extremely difficult what would it be rated? Transmission is stock 5 speed AX-15, never been out before. Any suggestions offered would be appreciated. :)

It's about a 6/7. Not all that hard. You will need a little help lifting it in and out. Theres only like 5 bolts holding the transmission in and a few for inspection plate. Try not to loose to much clutch fluid(pain in the A#% to bleed)If you have the external slave then just unbolt it first. Dont forget to replace the pilot bearing and clutch/throwout bearing to while your in there.

I'd agree with it being a 6. Check the upper two bolts on the bellhousing, they're often external torx. Replace them with regular metric bolts.

The '92 is an internal clutch slave.

Be sure to use Redline MT90 in the replacement transmission, it'll last a lot longer.
