whats up ever one i need to find out if a can bolt up a 4.2 motor to my 89 yj all stock transmission that came stock with the jeep it is a 5 speed standered thank for looking

it was the 2.5

No, different bellhousing pattern and the motor mounts are in the wrong place.

The '91+ 2.5L puts out more horsepower than the 4.2L engine.

well what can i do to get more power some thing feel like it is holding it back gave it full tune up new kn filter will a vacume line hold it back

The TBI 2.5L is a pretty weak motor, even more so when you add larger tires or more weight. Your best bet is to regear the axles to 4.88, or consider a complete drivetrain swap. The 4.3L GM v6 with the auto and transfer case attached from an S10 truck or Blazer make a great swap.
