RE: Re: RE: Modifications on gear for HEI

What rear end would an '87 pickup have, and would it fit on my '80 CJ with narrow track axles? I'll probably only be interested if it's a D44. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks y'all!

RE: Doetsch Tech shocks

'87 Comanche (MJ) or J10 or what?

'87 MJ will have the D35 or D44, and the J10 is likely a HDAMC20 or D44 (much wider than the MJ and your CJ).

Well, it was a tiny little pickup if that helps. I don't remember what kind it was, I don't think it was a J-series though, because the J-series were all pretty large, weren't they? I guess it was a Comanche then. But either way, the axle will be too wide?

Sounds like a Comanche, so it should be the D35 or D44. Either would be good width for your jeep, but the D35 would be a lighter axle that what you have now. It will be a different lug pattern than your current axles.

The J series were full-size trucks.

RE: Throttle body help

Alright, good deal, thanks. I'm gonna go see if its a D44 or a D35, then maybe pick it up, think there's any chance it has 3.07 gears?

RE: More advice for a noob

Possible, but 3.55 were more common. May be 3.07 if it had a 5spd, but who knows with Jeep.
