The blower motor on my AC went out yesterday. I am wondering if any of you have a good source for these types of blower motors. I cannot find one at that local parts store that matches. This thing has six wires coming out of it. The one at the parts store only had two.

76+ Chevy Blazer motor. Blows likes a mad.
The best mod you can do and they run about $24

BakedAlaskan,

How many wires are coming out of the back of one of those 76 Blazer blower motors? And is this for the under dash AC unit?

The Blazer motor has been used as the heater blower replacement but as for your AC I am not so sure. Does the heater blower and AC run on the same blower motor? The blower he was speaking of is mounted on the fire wall if I am not mistaken and requires an alteration to the hole it sets in by maken it a bit bigger. Tug

Tug,

I have two blower motors in my Jeep. One in the firewall for the heater and defroster and another blower motor in the AC unit under the dash.

That is what I was afraid of then the Blazer motor will most likely not work. Hope you find the answer. As for me I just roll down a window or take off parts of the top till all is nice and cool. hehehe AC on a jeep that is just to much for me to deal with. However it is nice crawling through the woods in the humid summer with PASmokeater in his plush TJ all cool and stuff so I guess I just need to get with the program. I guess AC is cool! Tug

Sorry guys I only have the computer at work. Yea if you have AC that ain't the one. The blower is only for the heater system.

You could save yourself the head ache and ditch the AC and turn it into a on board compressor. :D Jeep,... AC,.....??? I can't imagine. I honestly have never seen one or even been in a jeep with one. Not needed in Alaska, but Arkansas is a different story. But only a couple weeks a year do I wish I had it. The time when you have to have some type of top on just so you don't feel like a steak on broil.

Do all Jeep Ac units have two fans or could yours be an aftermarket one??

Nah, the factory ones had really look like aftermarket systems with the vents and what not bolted to the bottom of the dash. I bought a second CJ7 last year that had a system on it that was missing a couple of parts. I bought them off of ebay, and it blows COLD now. Granted I rarely use it, but if you've got an indian summer or a couple of warm days in early spring it's awful nice. (I've got a hard top and once it goes on for the winter, it stays on for the winter). As for the fan, check on ebay. You can get the whole underdash unit for $75-80, and there's a guy on there selling complete AC systems too. You might contact him and see if he has one that will work, or if he knows where you can get one. Are you sure it's not a blown fuse/other electrical problem that's keeping it from working? I've never heard of one of those fans dying....

Here's a link to one on ebay

Stupid, stupid, stupid problem...

I understand most of your opinions about AC in a Jeep, but you have to remember I live in Houston....and we have a good three months where the temps are between 93 and 103 with humidity in the 80%+ range. You can walk outside and stand perfectly still in the shade and be pouring sweat in five minutes. Add that to the fact that I work in a professional environment and travel to other offices on a daily basis and do not want to stink when I get there and AC becomes a must on any vehicle that I have.

Houston?? 80% + humidity............Get back when has it been that low???

Hey and as long as you smell good to yourself then your set!!

Heck yea, I would definitely have AC in Houston. Hell tell my family hi for me.

BakedAlaskan,

Yes I was trying to be conservative with the 80%. Where does your family live. I acutally live in Deer Park which is a city just southeast of Houston.

I think that I found one at a local company that sells and installs aftermarket AC. The guy there said that he had it for about $43.

Glad you found one, That will make life MUUUUCHO better.

I have realitives in Sheldon, Pearland, and some farther north in College station. In fact I was just there a month ago but took my buddies Camery. A little easier for a ten hour roadtrip with the family then the CJ.

low oil pressure

Thanks for the help guys. I got it installed on Saturday and it will blow dry my knee hair in seconds! I was a little concerned about the wiring since it had six wires coming out and there were even two reds and two yellows (I think). The shop that I bought it from installs aftermarket air units and the guy behind the parts counter was a wealth of information. He explained the wiring and it was easy to put in. Just to enlighten you, three of the wires are positive wires for the three different speeds. Then there are two ground wires....you use one to turn the motor one direction and the other to turn the motor the other direction. The un-used ground gets attached to the sixth wire, therefore looping it back into the motor.
