8.8 rear end

Is the 8.8 rear end any good? Besides drum/disc brakes, is there any difference between the pre-1995 and '95+ rear ends? What other mods would have to be done to hook it up to an '88 Wrangler. Also, the wrecking yards around where I live want around $400 for them, is this a pretty standard price for a complete rear end w/ lockers, etc?

I have an 8.8 that I'm putting in very soon. I have a complete writeup out of JP Magazine about the install on a YJ. I can scan and email it to you if you want.

i'm thinking the LSD was only availible in the late models.. i could be wrong... then the obvious reasons to go with a 95+... less mileage... less wear on the bearings and gears

That's a very strong axle and a good upgrade. $400 is a decent price from what I've seen.

Some came factory with a limited slip, and can be found with as low as 4.10 gears.
