74 CJ5 Heater

Hiya, I've been rebuilding my 74 CJ5 and have come to the heater/ defroster unit. The feet heater consists of two bent flaps facing the floor, that the air escapes through. Has anyone made modifications to their? Maybe adding hoses and vents?
Also, anyone added aircon to a CJ this old, how'd it go?
Cheers

Hey cow girl welcome to jeepz. I made some real nice air movers to get the heat where I wanted it in my cj7 by useing 2 liter soda bottles and duct tape. Worked like real good! So that goes to show you are only limited by your imagination and the elements you can find around you! Good luck tug

CJ5's had heat ??? just kidding.

Seriously, can't help ya with the heater, but welcome to Jeepz!

I was wondering if there was a real person to go with those pics in the reader's rides section!

CJ's with heat, kind of an oxymoron I know. I did have a pic for the menu in Readers Rides but can't work out how to get it back there, having a blonde week I guess?

Hey, Terry!

Welcome the the "Z", Cowgirl! Wish I could help, but I've got a "sissy" TJ with a heater that'll run you out of there............but wishin' I had a CJ, too.

Have you done the blazer blower motor upgrade? I think that would be the 1st step. If you have not just search blazer blower motor and you should find it. the low on the new motor is highter than the high on the old motor. Makes a huge differance.

The whole AC setup from a CJ7 with the same engine configuration should swap over with few mods. You'd need the WHOLE setup, from engine brackets to dash vents.
