I will be looking at a '74 CJ on Saturday. The owner is asking 4,000. for it. It has a new soft top, and tires. It's also got the 304 V-8 with a three speed manual trans. Odometer has 127K on it but the guy says it's been towed quite a bit so actual miles are less. Overall it should be in good shape as it's only been driven 1,000 miles a year for the last 25 years. Everything is basically original. So does four grand sound like a fair price if it's like he says it is?

Don't care for the transmission in those, I believe they are one of Ford's worst. Had one lock up at around 60. Went into opposing lane, missing a big rig,:shock: literally by INCHES. :shock: Ended up on the shoulder on MY original side, facing where I had just come from. Took weeks to pick all the seat vinyl from between my cheeks.:shock:
