5th gear no acceleration

Hi everyone!
I've got a '91 wrangler with lift and 32in mud tires. Runs great except that in 4th and 5th gears i really struggle to accelerate, especially up hills. 5th gear is basically useless. Have a hard time getting to 50mph let alone any faster. it's only a 4 cylinder engine, which may have something to do with it. Just not enough torque to move those tires maybe? any thoughts would be great!! feel free to post or e-mail reply! thanks-ben

Not completely true, in stock trim there is enough power/torque to motivate a 2.5L jeep. Add larger tires and your axle gearing is less effective in getting that power/torque to the ground. Best fix is to regear the axles to 4.88, then consider some power mods to the 2.5L engine. Check out www.4bangerjp.com for some great ideas and help from other 4banger owners like myself.
