4wd.com wrench

Recently purhased the wrench 4wd.com sales to remove doors without chipping the paint on the bolt. The very first time I used it damaged my paint:evil: . Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem? I do not recommend buying it. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!

sounds like saving the paint on them bolts is a lost cause from the beginning... if you really want them to keep color i suppose you could get them dipped somehow...

Took mine off when I first got my Jeep.......actually twisted one off (stupid left-hander.........the folks here can tell you that at times I'm directionally challenged   ). Chipped the paint on a couple others, but I didn't really care. They haven't been on since. I like it that I can just jerk the doors off anytime - no wrench needed.

Oh wow, so much to say, but so little that is kid-friendly. LOL
Well, he did say "doors."

Can you link me to the wrench in question? I'm just curious as to what it looks like and how it's supposed to be able to remove the screw/bolt/whatever without damaging the paint on the screwhead.

Personally, I could care less about damaging the paint on my...ummm....bolt fasteners. I took mine off right after buying the Jeep, and they're still laying in the center console. Don't know why you'd want to spend good money to keep from chipping the paint on a little nut anyway......

Alright, to hell with them they are staying off! Thanks to everyone for showing me the way, I am still learning.

No comment @ Mud.
You know where all that can lead!! (next thing you know there are 18 pages of posts under this subject!)

Thought I would share my story.

Last year, bought my TJ private party. Fulfilled my boyhood dream, I OWNED a Wrangler, just like Mork & Mindy!!

Anyway, I RACED home, busted out the tool kit to start taking stuff apart. (mind you this is March in Oregon, still the "wet" season.)

First to go, the doors.
Well they had never been off before, and were rusted on pretty good. So I liquid wrench them, let them soak as I am trying to figure out how to get the soft top off.

Go back to them and start wrenching as hard as I can to get the nut to bust (theres one for you mud)
All of a sudden, suuuuhhnnnnnaaaappppp.
Knuckle bashing pop, snapped the whole bottom of the pin clear off, on all of them!!

Then I had to use a screw driver & hammer to drive the doors up and out of the hinges....... I was a bit more delicate swinging the hammer luckily and only hit the quater panel once...... my first ding!!

But better yet, my first drive with my foot hanging out, what a night!!
