Just a couple of quick questions I wasn't clear about and maybe a few of you will be able to shine a little more light on this for me....I am going to swap a 4.2 out and put in a 4.0 The motor is going in a 1988 YJ w/ mannul transmission and the 4.0 is coming out of a 1988 cherokee w/ a manual transmission what will I need for a sucessful swap and what major problems will I run into????? :-? :-? :-? It should bolt right in, you'll need to reuse the YJ accessory brackets. Reuse the XJ computer since you are switching to fuel injection. Good luck on the wiring.

You'll probably also need an electric fuel pump to get enough pressure for the FI.[addsig]

I was going to go the same route because I could get the engine for free. I spoke with the local Jeepguy and he told me that the pre '90 engines used a renault injection system that wouldn't be that big of an improvement over what I've got stock :-( . So I'm back to waiting on the extra cash for the 350 swap.[addsig]
