I have herd that you can put a 4.2 cam in a 4.0 and it will work and give more power. Is this true?? And is there anything that would need to be done to the computer on a 98 TJ if I put it in it?
I don't really know for certain, but I tend to doubt it would work. The pulley snout is about 2" longer on a 4.0, I think the 258 crank would be to short.

your lobe grind on a 4.0L cam is a better profile and set for performance than an earlier model 4.2 cam lobe grind. Your better off changing your 1.5 rockers for a 1.6 rocker on a 4.0L cam.

Stroker kits or stroking a motor requires that you change the crank for more throw on the piston, not the cam unless a different profile is needed. Your original question is changing in a 4.2 cam into a 4.0L motor.
