258 Valve Cover Gasket

I have a 1980 CJ5 with a 6 cyl. 258 engine. The valve cover gasket was leaking and so I replaced it with a cork gasket I got at an auto parts store. It leaks worse than the one I replaced! Someone told me to get a neoprene gasket. However, I cannot find a source to get one from.

Is this a common problem? Any suggestions?

Go to the parts store and ask for the "Right Stuff" its a gasket making item. Take your valve cover back off and clean up the cover and where it sits on the head, make sure you get it good and clean this is very inmportant. Take the right stuff and run a bead around the valve cover and make it about 1/8" above the lip on the valve cover and the set the valve cover on and you will be good to go. [addsig]
