2010 Cherokee Laredo

My Mum has a 2010 Grand Cherokee Laredo and it's been howling under the hood. It howls weather or not it is moving and kinda sounds like a dying fuel pump. Is there a fuel pump under the hood? If not is there anything else it could be?

The howling noise is usually the sign of a bad bearing. To answer your question about the fuel pump, its in the fuel tank. Usually one of the first thing that goes bad is the idler pulley and or alternator bearings. You can remove the serpentine belt to see if the noise goes away. But please do not run the engine very long because you will not be circulating the water pump. If the noise goes away then you have to figure out which component is bad.
