2001 TJ Wrangler P0432 and P0740 Help???

I have been getting these two codes consistantly now for a month after resetting the MIL they come back after about 60 or 80 miles. I have searched the web for suggestions and have come up with to many options to start with so I have chose to start with you guys who seem to be pretty experienced Jeepers. For the P0432 code I'm on the fence to try changing O2 sensors first or just go for a new catalytic converter. Which sensors would I even try? As far as the P0740 code could the solenoid be bad in the transmission? It goes down the road fine or it seems to. There is 116,000 miles on this Jeep and it is the 4.0 liter. Any suggestions would help, I need to figure this out on my own without the help of an expensive diagnoses. I am a fairly able DIY mechanic with a good description of what to do and I am on a tight budget. I have until August to figure this out since that will be inspection time as long asd these conditions don't create any more damage. Thanks in advance.

Ok so I cleared the p0432 code. Replaced the CAT it's been a couple months now and seems good. Still have the P0740 code though doesn't seem to want to go away. Cleared the computer a coupe times and once it took a week to show back up and another time it came back within a day. Any suggestions? I plan to try retracing the wire harness this weekend but not too sure it's the problem.

That's a torque converter code. Check out your oil in there and such. If its low and getting too hot it can throw a code. More of pain if its the torque converter clutch, might be a shop job unless you are good with automatic transmissions.

Thanks. Thought I might try a flush first. I have read a lot about this possibly being a solenoid in the transmission. There are a couple of transmission shops in the area that have good reputations I will see one of them if changing the fluid won't cure it. Unfortunately this is a bit out of my comfort zone.

Just had a reputable transmission shop check out my problem. Turns out the torque converter is junk. I need a new one and he suggested a complete cleaning and reassembly of the transmission. That will empty the pockets for a while. :-(
