When I turn the key the engine turns over and will not start. When I turn the key back to the off position and then try again it starts, but it idles real rough and sometimes shuts back off. But eventually it gets running better after I start driving. It is a 2001 6 cyl jeep Cherokee Laredo. Hope someone knows what is causing what I am describing. Thanks

My wife's 2001 grand had this issue .
I found the check valve on the fuel pump was sticking open had it replaced over 100k ago and never again had the issue. She now has over 165000 with no other fuel issues knock on wood. The way I was told to check it was to turn the key on but do not start for ten to fifteen seconds then she started right up. This represuurized the fuel system
