2001 Cherokee rotors warped again!

Has anyone else had problems with their rotors going bad in a relatively short period of time? I bought this Jeep in 7/2001. By 9/2001 the rotors were warped and replaced by the dealer. Now they are warped AGAIN only a year and a half later! Is this normal? The dealer says the rotors are out of warranty. I don't mind doing the work myself but this seems like a more serious problem. The rotors were replaced the first time at 9500 miles and now I have 23000 miles. Is this normal wear or I am I just freaking out for no reason! Thanks for the input!

my brakes wear out pretty quick too, maybe we're driving too fast.....[addsig]

I sure hope that we are driving too fast or braking too hard for that matter! I love the way the dealer also wants to charge an arm and a leg for brake work! They are crazy![addsig]

If there isn't an inherent design flaw in the rotors....some manufacturers have brakes that are notorious for warping rotors (personally i dont know about Jeeps)...the culprit is HEAT....either misuse such as riding the brakes....or heat cycling from habitually waiting till the last second to stop...are you towing something heavy??? the truck seems too new to have guck between the pistons and caliper bores causing the pistons to stick...maybe some of the jeep mechanics in here can say...if the pistons are made of that phenolic resin stuff....those stink...hard chromed steel is best...misadjusted master cylinder push-rod???.... malfunctioning power brake booster that fails to completely release??? I've been a mechanic all my life, and maintain a fleet of trucks....but im new to Jeeps...my old '84 model i bought to fix up a few months ago has over 120,000 miles... some of the best brakes i have ever seen....even with 33 inch tires...I'd check to make sure the brakes release properly, rebuild the calipers including hard chromed pistons (easy to do) and the BEST brake pads in the world are the extreme duty ones from NAPA...pricy and squeal a little when cold... but last longer than anything i have ever seen.......... DAWG  [addsig]

I've had three xj's never had that problem but my 95 I recieved a recall for the rotors the center fins rusted out and they came apart. Do you rotate your tires on a regular basis it sound like maybe the wheels are being put on to tight they should be torqued 85 to 100 lbs if you take it to a shop and they are using an impact on the lugs you should suggest they use their torque wrench to put the wheels on.[addsig]
