2 Jeeps 2 Transmission problems

i have a 97 jeep grand cherokee that started having a whining noise when it shifted to 4th gear about a week ago twice it seemed to downshift when i was going down the interstate about 70 mph when you turn of the overdrive the whining stops but trans still doesn't change right. i also have a 93 grand cherokee that i drove to a job one day it was doing fine and it sat for about 4 hours and when i got ready to leave it wouldn't change then it stopped pulling when cold it pulls soon as it warms up it stops. i love jeeps but this is getting crazy trans problems on both

welcome to the world of grand cherokee transmissions. They are bound to have problems and go out at some point. I can't think of what it may be, but the costly fix is to take it to a trans shop and have them asses it.
