2.8L bellhousing, will it fit later transmissions

RE: On a lighter note...I love this headline.

Anybody have any idea if the Bellhousing off of a Cherokee with the 2.8L GM engine will fit later model (88 thru 2001) cherokee transmissions both standard and automatic??

Any clues on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

S10 and S15 pickups, blazers, and jimmys came with the 60* 2.8l V6 in the early-mid eighties. A transmission could be sourced from one of these trucks, and it would have a drivers side drop NP231 behind it. I don't know if the bellhousing depth would be different, to accomodate different transmission input lengths, so you might need the s10/s15 bellhousing.

The automatics don't have removable bellhousings
