1998 Swaybar bushings size

My swabar is loose and causing a rattle int he front end. I want to put the nice tight red bushings on the swaybar but they need to know the size. How do I find out the size of my swaybar if I have no way to measure it. I have the standard suspension and no lift, straight stock. The dealer only sells one bushing for this model and it's rubber so the VIN number match is out. Any ideas is appreciated

Why can't you measure it?

Use a common adjustable wrench to easily find the diameter of your original equipment sway bar. Simply open the jaws of the wrench until it fits snugly over the sway bar. Then remove the wrench and measure the gap between the jaws. You may also use an open end wrench that just fits.. You now know the diameter of your sway bar. Your measurement should be as accurate as possible, coming within 1/16".

RE: How stuff works on the JEEP Hurricane

I never thought of measuring it that way. 26mm Thanks, ordered them today. I don't take it that I should be able to move my swaybar back and fourth about an inch or so, should I?

hehe, like the name, I use it when playing MOHSH online *RS* Randy and sons servers

No there really shouldn't be any play in it ed.
I am assuming you are going with the daystar bushings? They are the red polyurathane? If that is it and you bought the kit, you will get the link end bushings. Those require some type of pressing technique, which you can use a bench vise to do.
Pay attention to how you take them off..........

I just did mine and was pleased with the ease in which they switch out, and I noticed a HUGE difference in the feel of the steering....... HUGE, well worth the $30

RE: drive shaft angles? what should they be? help!!

I go tomorrow to pick them up at the local 4x4 shop. $26.00 for the whole swaybar kit. By the way I appreciate the help but do you think I could use 'Astro Glide' to put them on. It's all I have that's slick and since me and the Mrs. buy it in volume she won't miss alittle. ha

Thanks guys, I'll post the results after my install this weekend
