This thing is driving me CRAZY; sometimes opens fine sometimes feels like its disconnected when the handle is pulled to open; used to be able to just cycle the power locks a couple times to get it to open when it acted up but no more; usually gotta lock/unlock it with the key; but it binds so bad that I'm afraid that one of these times I'm gonna sheer the key with it binding;
and I rarely lock the jeep when parked; often I have this happen when I'm in the back close the hatch and then go to open it again within a couple minutes after nobody was even in it near the lock button; it seems it "locks itself" upon closing; I gotta get a replacement inner hatch (the "upholstery" part; it has been busted up and wanting to fall off since Ive had the Jeep. I have had it off twice to replace the rear wiper motor (junkyard sourced parts; thats why I went thru 2, so far, in 4+ years but for $15/ea i'm still not up to the $95 they want for a reman!)
the hatch latch problem showed up sometime between the 2 wiper motor replacements; the inner "upholstery" panel has been off again since by the glass shop when I had to have a new back window installed; no effect on the latch issue; that was about 9 months ago but within the last month has gotten worse; am I looking at a new latch to fix?
