I could be wrong but I believe that the skid plate is not just a skid plate. In my CJ it also is the support for the Xfer case and I would not drive it without it being installed. It will through everything off and possibly do damage. J.B.

Isnt the 44 on the wagoneer wider? Are the perches in the same place? If so that sounds way easier, even if I have to convert the fronts to 5 on 5-1/2. What about upgrading the 30? If that is a serviceable axle? That seems like the path of least resistance. J.B.
