    Transmission and T-case fluid

If it where me and it has been many times, for the Tremec T4 and T5 transmissions (non-world class like those in your Jeep), you'll need a gearbox oil with anti-oxidation additives like Pennzoil Synchromesh due to the brass synro rings used. The transfer case is good with whatever weight is...

    Help!!!!

You may also have a interlock on the electric fuel pump that is dependent on oil pressure (which is the way they are supposed to be wired). The wiring in this type of situation can be difficult to figure out and easy to cross a wire.

1985 jeep cj 4.2 swapping in 1990 4.2 from yj

The motor mounts are different on the YJ to accommodate the larger oil filter that was used by Chrysler. AMC 's design had an internal to the block oil bypass and drain back valve, the Chrysler re-design was external and inside the filter. Unfortunately, the two different era blocks can't...

    85 cj7 back window

Try Magoo's Auto Glass. I got one for my CJ7 from them a couple years ago.

random ignition cut out on 87 yj

At 28 degrees you have likely skipped/slipped the the timing gear and chain.

    clutch

The clutch will start slippping under load. You'll see a random spike in your RPM's with the pressure plate fully engaged (your foot is not on the pedal). Depending on what model Jeep you have, check that your linkage is not bound, bent or low on hyd. fluid, but these effects usually show up as...

    1985 CJ7 AMC 20 Rear axle

X2 on the install, not so much hard as time consuming to set up the first time. Superior Axle made a very good kit with clear instructions, but they went out of business. Most 4x4 shops (like Morris or Quadrtec) sell the AMC 20 axle shim kit which has a variety of different thickness shims...

    cj5 direction

X2 on this..... The SOA is a fools game for a daily driver or even a recreation vehicle. If the engineer 's at AMC, Chrysler or whoever wanted it that way, they would have made it an option. You'll appreciate the designed ride! But keep in mind that it was not design to be a Shelby.

    1985 CJ7 AMC 20 Rear axle

Sorry...... Fat figured this with my iPhone. You'll be able to remove it but not re-install it. The rest is what I was getting at...

    1985 CJ7 AMC 20 Rear axle

You be able move it but not reinstall it. Regardless, I would recommend a 1 piece axle upgrade. Welding the hub to the shaft is an old school fix for a slipped / stripped key. When you price out your replacement parts, it's more economical to upgrade to a 1 piece ( search US Alloy axles) plus...

    1989 wrangler 4.2

You are correct, you have no Crank Position Sensor. In fact, you have one of the last AMC engines made which had rudamentary electronics at best (still a great engine though). The fact that you can disconnect the vac line at the distrubutor (at idle?) and the missing stops does bother me. You...

    cj5 direction

Based on your photos, I argee with 69jeepcj with regards to the front axle or really what we are getting at is your caster angle. One of your photos shows the angle meter at 10 degrees negitive caster (front axle rotated forward). You ideally want 5-8* positive caster (axle rotated the other...

    First of many questions...

The dome shaped unit is the pressure sending unit for your oil pressure gauge on the dash panel. The 2 prong unit is a normally open oil pressure switch which was typically used for the electric choke although it can be used for many different applications. It closes when 3-5 psi of oil pressure...

78 cj5 upper fresh air duct ???? by the newbie.

I would recommend taking the dash plate off to re-install the correct OEM heater assm. Otherwise you're going to disconnect a bunch of wires that are hard to get too. It's confusing enough even if you've done it a few times. Plus with it being opened up, figuring out the cable controls will be...

Help twin stick my 85 cj7

If you where to look at your T-case from under niether your jeep, you'll see that it is actually two seperate shifting rods(rails) connected to a common gear shift lever as the OEM setup. Twin stick allows each rod to have it's own serparte lever for a controlled and easier shift in and out of...

    Engine Balance Question

The harmonic balancer/vibration dampeners where all the same regardless of trans type, so no you won't need to change it. However, down the road, keep in mind with the CJ 258 engine that you are installing, you'll need a different oil filter than the one in the 258 you had.
