I'm not familiar with the 4 cylinder. Does it have a pickup coil in the distributor like the 6 cylinder does? I've had that go out on me before and it won't spark without it.

Sounds good. I'm lucky to get 75 going downhill with a tail wind out of mine. But as short as the thing is, 75 gets a little squirrelly anyway.

I agree with the 2100. That could have been linkage or the high idle screw adjustment on the choke may have been messing with you. Mine runs great. No ideas about the carter though.

If the shafts are worn out it will suck air around them too. I love mine. It runs and idles great. I just have to remember to keep my foot out of it. It will suck the gas if I have to get on it. Of course, any carb will do that.

One other thought. Are any of your intake manifold bolts loose? I'm just trying to think of all the things I've dealt with since I bought my jeep. They aren't torqued real tight, so don't just crank them down. I don't remember the specs. That kind of leak may not affect it the way yours is doing...

That's what I did was take the bushings out. I got the outside ones out and then pushed the bolts out along with the inside bushings. I just don't remember how I got the outside bushings out.
