Got the carb done starts up a lot faster now. Now have to figure out the knocking noise

I have this knocking noise that happens on acceleration, it does not do it when idling. I checked the timing and set it to 16 degrees like the specs say to. Set the timing by plugging the vacuum line that runs to the distributer and unplugging the electrical wire on the valve cover like the book...

I found a rebuild kit at oreillys, think I might swing in and get one

Have an 89 yj with carter carb.. Question is how hard is it to rebuild the carb? I've never really worked on carbs before other then on small engine carbs like law mowers and atv's. I noticed some leaking around the gaskets of my carb today

I'm not a painter, my uncle is though and I remember him telling me about this stuff called bully dog adhesion promoter that he uses on plastic parts when he paints. Said it works good

Anyone ever heard of or tried putting everclear or rubbing alcohol in the gas tank to help with passing emissions?

Not sure on the air pump where would it be located? The EGR valve it connected to the EGR TVS on the air cleaner just as the diagram I used said to.

Well some progress swapped out the distributer with another one I had laying around. After the swap now when I start it it does not reve as high anymore. It's now starts at 10000 and idles down to around 8000

Also noticed the plastic around the wires here are exposed

As far as I know as long as whatever is swapped is 50 state legal it's fine

Has the converter, idles fast when first started then after a while down to 10000 seams smooth kinda sputters a little. Drives good, at the stops it idles good doesn't try to stall at all. I just finished running all the vacuum lines over the past few days Here is a closer pic of the carb

It has a weber carb 273, are the weber carbs not the ones that came stock? dose not smell rich, sorry I'm new to jeeps and still trying to sort threw this thing

So took the jeep to emissions today and it failed. Any ideas on what to do? Carbon monoxide to high at 94.83 standard is 25.00
