I'm new also but from what I've researched the Dana 30 is a decent axle... Google homemade posi lock Dana 30... I can get a 8.8 at the scrap yard for 125.... although you would have to order gears to match front and rear... you can also see is you can find a 89 xj wit tow package and it should...

I'm not sure if the yjs have a vacum disconnect locker like the xjs do but for a considerable amount less you could get a d30 from the junk yard and make a homemade posi and just use the money u saved towards getting you a new rear

I recently installed a booster and Mc from a 99 xj in my 89 xj... I got everything hooked up and I flatened the end for the brake late but I have to move the switch by Hans in order to get my brake lights to come on... any suggestions

My xj the same thing... it was my alternator... I had to drive bout 12 miles with no lights and my windshield was covered in mud... so we had our heads and spotlight out the window driving back home... I got a alt at the salvage for 30 bucks and the problem was fixed

Ok I'm pretty good with a welded but how good are 110 welders never had the pleasure of using one so I'm kinda uncertain of them... if I was to put a pretty good sized weld on one do you guys think a winch would tear the bumper apart?

I had a similar incident happen to me but was just a leaf spring that broke in mine... I had just gotten ny jeep and my buddies were like para see what she's got so we did...I think I was stuck worse than that guy was though... and we were a lot smarter by not all hanging out by the tow strap...
