Go with the CJ 7 no question. I had a 77 CJ 5 as my first jeep. I'm 5-10 at 168lbs the 5 was tight for me. The 7 also gives you some rear storge space behind the back seat. Best of luck,

CJ's are tougher and seem to last longer, as well as hold their value better than the products released by Chrysler. I'm not rippin on the newer Jeeps. I think the new TJ looks really sweet. IMO the CJ's are the authentic desirable jeep ;)

Lady Gator, Do you know of any good off road trails in the Lakeland area. I'm in St. Pete and dont know of anywhere to go. I have an old CJ 7 as well. Mine is run mostly up and down Gulf Blvd and the local beach bar hang outs. Jeep on!

I was just kidding man. I live on the beach in Florida and love jeepin around the Gulf with my old school CJ7. Oh and BTW, I have a 2" body lift riding on 33's and they look perfect! Best of luck,

Yep, thats what mine is doing also. Its sounds like its coming from the valve cover. Knocks for about 1-2minutes and then stops.

My 81 CJ7 has the 258 inline 6. After running it even for a minute or so the motor will knock. Is this normal with a plastic valve cover? If not, what are your thoughts? Thanks guys, Beach Jeep

1074829 I have a 81 CJ7 without a top. I assumed all hard doors for the CJ-7 would fit? I picked up a pair of old primered doors with windows. I put new latches and handles in however, the door latch doesnt line up with the slot in the frame? Earily model doors different? Thanks, [addsig]
