    Thoughts on buying this jeep?

Great advice from everyone. I've been staying away from the 4-cyl jeeps just because I've always liked having a bigger engine in whatever car/truck I am driving. That's something I've noticed that really limits my options. I'll have to check out the small used car lots though, not done that yet...

    Thoughts on buying this jeep?

One other question, how much does it matter to each of you to have a Dana 44 on the rear end? Right now I don't anticipate driving off-road too much.

    Thoughts on buying this jeep?

And THIS is why I consult with you guys before I buy a jeep :) I take it that a body lift vs. suspension lift you are saying is just looks, but does not add any clearance for trails and such? As for the TN jeeps Red... I'll drive pretty much wherever for the right jeep. So TN is definately...

    Thoughts on buying this jeep?

I'm looking at a '98 Wrangler Sport, 4.0L 6-cyl, manual. Has 95k miles, 3" body lift, and the other typical interior features for sound, AC, etc. New tires on it and mechanically sound. Purchase price is $7,600 which I am feeling is pretty good. Few dings in the body but from trail riding, not...

Thoughts on this YJ????? Might buy

Thanks for those thoughts already. I will plan on getting more specific information this Saturday when I test drive and snapping a few photos to share with everyone as well. The mileage is 100,000. I'm learning though, didn't think that $7,000 was too bad given what I've been seeing out on the...

Thoughts on this YJ????? Might buy

I have a friend selling a 1994 YJ, has a 2 1/2 lift kit on it, nurf bars, few other extras, 33" tires. Looks great, he's the only owner, hardly ever been off road, mostly a commuter for him. 100K miles, 6-cylinder, manual. Everything I see about it screams BUY ME! His asking price on the market...

I figure this might be a fun addiction, especially something to share with my son as he gets older. Right now the biggest question I am having is what do I 'settle' on... year, mileage, amount of mods, etc. Seeing a number of options which makes it all the more interesting as well as difficult...

Yeah... now you lost me with all of that tech talk again :) Was out this weekend with my family at my son's t-ball game and was amazed at how many jeeps I actually noticed at the ball park. Was a bit more fun to look at them and say "I like that" or "I don't want that". Always thought looking...

Well it looks like I got pretty close. 42" tires? My goodness, isn't that pretty big? Heard 33's mentioned several times and I thought those were big.

Saurian... sweet info on the lingo there. That actually helps on the models based upon what I've been looking at in the classifieds so far. I am interested in a wrangler vs. a Cherokee like jeep. I'm wanting something smaller to just get around in on nice days, top off, as well as easy to work...

I think I follow you on the transmission there, well now I do. Getting the lingo to me is half the fun. Redrooster... all I can pick up so far on your set up is that you have a 1978 model CJ Jeep, 5.3L engine?, TH400... is that your transmission (thinking it's something like what I keep...

Thanks for all the info. Hard to concentrate at work while dwelling on this!!! I have trended towards buying the bigger engines in my vehicles and never been upset by that. Sure, I may pay a bit more in gas, lose a few MPG's but I feel that I also have a longer engine life and fewer mechanical...

Pardon my naiveity... is the "Truck Trader" available online as well? I plan on picking up a couple classifieds this weekend. I definately want the jeep lifted, would be nice if it is already done. If I can go newer than '95 I would consider it if it was the right set up. I'm also assuming that...

Jaymz77 and Sparky... Thanks to both of you for taking the time to reply. I can see this forum has a wealth of information, appreciate you sharing yours. Jaymz77, from what you have said, sounds like the 91-95 YJ is what I will be looking for then. I know that I want something that does have...

Well I found this site when browsing around for some info on Jeeps. Always wanted one, wife won't let me get another crotch rocket (have 3 kids) and the boat that I "did have" was sold 2 years ago:cry: but hey, with gas prices, perhaps not such a bad thing. So now I find myself weighing buying...
