1045472 here is an update. When I disconnect the vacuum line to the map sensor it idles down to around 1500rpm, plug it back in goes back to 5000rpm. Hmmm... something do do with vacuum lines. the egr valve3 is pouched but i will be replacing that soon. [addsig]

1045915 This may sound stupid but you may want to check your egr valve. I had a staling problem with my 87 yj and that is what it was. It is pretty easy to check and they aren't that much at a wrecker.[addsig]

1045916 it would be a good idea to go to a wrecker and cut off a transmission spline of the same transmission if you can find one that will help you line up the clutch plate. Otherwise it can be a nightmare. I think there is also a tool you can buy but usually the spline is cheaper.[addsig]

1047483 my advice is to do a compression test on the cylinders, this will tell you if is still the lil four banger that can. If the compression is ok and you've already done all those other things, I'd start looking at those vacuum lines again.[addsig]

1047484 the yj is an 87 with a 2.5L tbi, but the entire drive train was replaced with the drivetrain from an 89 cherokee 4.0L fuel inj. Got tired of my 4 cyl.[addsig]
