I recommend checking the oil in your axle after a water crossing. At least pull the fill plug and dip your finger in there to see if it's got water. Could be very costly if you don't.
Thanks for the info. I've heard the Aussie is probably the best as far as "lunchbox lockers" go. I do have locking hubs, so I'm not to concerned about drivability. I haven't ordered it yet, so I'm still open to suggestions. Thanks again.
Hey forum, I finally got my 44 ready to instal in my cj. I'm looking to instal a locker, lunch box type. My question is I only have funds for one right now. What do you guys think is more effective, front or rear? Thanks guys
I wouldn't spray the belt with wd-40. Since its a new belt it may have just seated itself and needs to be retightened. You should have about a half inch of up and down movement in the belt. Also if the battery is weak, the alternator may be struggling to keep up, causing the belt to squeal.
Great looking project. There's a thread on here, 1956 CJ5 build. By la 2003. He's documenting a frame off restoration of his. There's a lot of good info and pictures on there for early cj's.
It is a good strong transmission. Not sure if the connector for the wires that you said were hanging will fit. Since that trans was never offered in a yj. I just use a toggle switch for my reverse lights.
Welcome to Jeepz. Your fuel line should have these little metal tabs that bolt to the frame to hold your line in place. The hard line is a lot safer than rubber. I try use as little rubber line as possible. The plug for the t-98 is located on the top of the transmission. You may have to feel...
I should have thought about that too. My jeep is Fiberglas, so I had to run a ground wire from the solenoid mounting bolts to the frame for it to work. Forgot about that.
That's one tough looking jeep Steady.foot. I noticed on your specs. you listed a smittybilt 8000# winch. I was thinking about getting one and was wondering if you had a chance to use it yet and would you recommend it?
Without a roll cage,I think the only option you would have is to replace your seats with the type that have the shoulder belt built into the seat itself. I drive an 07 gmc 3500 at work and it has those kinds of seats. Pretty comfortable too.
