    1982 CJ7 Exhaust Pipe

I see what you mean...I just checked a few online "replacement parts" lists & they all skip that part for some reason....????....I would think a decent muffler shop could bend one up for you with no problem, or you could go to a header.Good luck & let us know what you end up doing.

The one I have was made by Bestop. I got it a few years ago, but I would think the still make them. You might try Quadratec or 4WD Hardware. Bestop part #52505 "55-"75 CJ5 Bestop part #52507 "76-"83 CJ5

    Motor timing 180* out?

I agree that the only way for the engine to get 180 deg out is incorrect install. Maybe a PO did a timing gear/chain change & set the gear 180 off. Then changed the spark plug wires to make the engine run. I've seen that done before. Good luck & let us know how you make out after reinstalling...

    will it fit

The 1986 2.5 is carburated...the "99 Cherokee is fuel injected...not a good swap. I believe the 1999 Wrangler 2.5 is the same engine as the 1999 Cherokee 2.5.

Good point JPNinPA! There could be wiring issues causing your no charge.

    Alternator and valve cover

When replacing alternators, I like to go "1 size up" as far as amperage. In "85 the stock alternator was I believe either 35A or 42A Delco. A Delco alternator of a higher amperage is usually the same size & would be an upgrade. As for the valve cover. The stock valve cover in "85 was plastic...

    Steel Tub vs. Fiberglass

I've had a Jeep with fiberglass front fenders & a steel tub,and 2 Jeeps with fiberglass fenders & tub(one was my sons) in the past. I have a steel replacement body on my CJ5. I chose the steel body because I wanted the Jeep to be the closest to original that I could. Like Gennybro, I prefer the...

85 Jeep CJ7 California Forgot how to put the ALternator bracket on

    Emergency Brake

Yes,I've seen stretch in the cable cause slack. Never a bad idea to check the drums, but my guess is tightening the cable should do the trick.

    Steering gear replacement

The Chevy Truck Steering boxes work. Just be sure that the box mounts to the frame with 4 bolts. The 3 bolt steering box(Chevy cars) will work ,but is not as strong & WILL fail. You can guess how I know. Eventhough you're sure the Box is bad be sure to verify that your steering shaft & other...

    Beginner's guidelines and pointers

The 258 6cyl(Inline not V) is a great engine that is commonly known to last 200k miles. However the Carter carbs that came from the factory on them tend to wear out beyond repair long before the engine goes. Most guys end up switching to a Weber,Motorcraft or Holley at some point. The 4.0L in...

    New Jeep owner

More info would be helpful. Is it a manual trans or an auto? The "76 came from the factory with a Dana20 xfer case. Are you sure you're in the correct position when trying to engage 2H. Could be a xfer case issue.

    1973 jeep cj5 demand

It kind of depends on the shape it's in. There is some demand for an "unmoletsted"(close to stock) Jeep of that age in good shape. As far as someone who want's a modified CJ for trail riding etc, there are probably more desirable years(eg."76 & later). Pictures & more details would be helpful.

    Beginner's guidelines and pointers

I think the most important question when choosing a Jeep is: How are you going to use it? If it's a daily driver I would choose a different year &/or model than if it's a weekend fun machine. Some things to consider.... CJs are much less refined than the later Wrangler models. They ride rougher...

Check out plowsite.com There is a Jeep section with a lot of discussion on this very subject. Good luck with your project & let us know how it comes out. A Jeep is a great snowplow vehicle. Ive been plowing(just my own driveway & for friends) for about 10years with 3 different Jeeps. Never been...

    Models

If you have a local hobby shop you might want to talk to the guy there. They may be able to order something a little less common then what's generally seen. About 20 years ago when my sons were into models a little I built a CJ5 model that I painted to match the CJ5 I had then...the kit even...

    Snow Fire

There are quite a few other fire starters on the market...I think it would be a good idea to check their prices & compare your Snow Fire then price accordingly. The burn time & moisture proof quality may make yours unique & pricing should reflect that.
