I've heard that it only works one time on the fenders. Not sure if that is true or not.

I've always pressure washed mine and then put some mothers back to black on them (my fenders are a dark gray). Works for about 2-3 months before I need to reapply.

Really? You could only do it 1 time. But it does bring back the color.

I went on youtube to find support for my wild claims but there appears to be none.
I found a few forum posts that talk about making the plastic brittle, but those appear to be in the minority.

It looks like my idea that "you can only do this one time" may not be accurate
