HEY
there is plenty to do in Kansas!!!
In Wichita alone...
theres, theres, three Warren movie theaters.
West side just got IMAX!
um, I think one or two trails but I never been. I think Jeepz has a list of official off road trails by state but not sure where.

How many of you are actually from Kansas?
I am from Wichita. Its great for a Teenager. Two crappy malls filled to the brim with stuff i can Afford! All my friends. One Army Surplus store filled with 10 dollar ammo cans all sizes. Expensive movies so I look rich and cool when I loiter there.
Thats about it for teenagers, OH a Guitar Center!!!
What I don't like
I am so flipping far away from the Ocean!!! yet there are three dive shops.
If you talk about science, or Evolution or stuff like that, the old people call you Satanists! okay, that part is fun at times but still! I hate being surrounded by people who will openly deny fact!!!
Wichita is kinda an Oasis as is though. you drive 35 minutes in any direction and you will be in the middle of no where.
Also if you are staying in a motel (and a few Hotels) there is like a 30% chance you wont have a T.V. so only bring the xbox if theres room.
Otherwise, yup your pretty much boned going to the middle of dusty no where with a few hotels, maybe a town hall and other necessities, like Pizza Hut.
Confession, I secretly wish Texas to fall victim to global warming so Kansas becomes A LOT closer to the Ocean.

Hell, why dont we all meet in the middle of the Kansas plains and have an xbox party!!!
THIS IS MY 200 POSTING SO PARTY FOR SCUBADUDE IN BOB'S FIELD TONIGHT!!! bring out of state accomadations like toilet paper and porn!!! YOUR IN "HOLY" LAND
okay so its not that bad but a lot of people are pretty religious about their, well religions.
Also kansas gives 13 year olds drivers licenses if they live or work on a farm!
i don't, I live in a big house on the West side, but still its pretty cool to see the rare 13 year old driver creeping down the highway in their pop's tractor.

i will have to walk there 
i am staying on base, in the army hotel so it should have internet. its next to the px and food court and a burger king. the bowling alley is right behind it and the golf course club house is across the street.
i think i will end up finding one of the permanent duty units and seeing if they do any pt in the afternoon and if they do, seeing if i can join them. last time i did this, in 03, i got to do pt in the back and got treated like a warrant or an officer since i am a civilian and my grade is equivalent to a high O2 or a newly promoted O3.
that is why i cannot understand why i keep getting denied a rental car. i've asked twice and keep getting told not for this trip. i get officer's per diem on orders and officer's rates when i travel off orders but no rental car.
and i am not putting my golf clubs in the general luggage area on the plane. i have two degrees in aviation technology and worked civilian aviation while in school. i know how stuff is treated down there. i will borrow some clubs form the course and use a house ball when bowling

But seriously: Look into finding local fishing holes. See if there's a gun show happening on the weekend (Kansas City KS and Kansas city MO have some big shows. gunshows-usa.com (if you're into guns)
I also remember seeing a special on some hiking in ks. google is your friend. rent a kayak and find a river. (take your fishing pole along just incase). And even though its flat, theres got to be some mountainless-mountainbiking trails around. In the west we called them "single track" but out here they call them cow trails. Becareful, it won't be mud that you slip on. :lol: As for scuba diving: Ya we got a handfull of scuba shops in the St. Louis area too.
