    1956 CJ5 Fuel system replacement

try a seafoam treatment to clean out your engine as best you can.. since its a CJ5 i doubt you have a bunch of useless sensors causing issues, so it may be a carb issue.. or youre losing compression in the engine itself... could also be electrical.. does it start back up after it stalls or is it...

Thinking of building a four link set up

tyler.. if you do offroad driving for recreation, sport, then leafs will do anything you ask it to.. if you intend to do professional rock crawling for money only then would it be worth the cost and effort to go with links.. and the CJ leaf spring suspension is actually pretty good, might want...

only classic or vintage jeep forums ive found have been full of people talking about putting chevy 350s in them.. utter blasphemy for anyone who claims to be a real fan of them

does anyone know a place where i can find people that own, restore, and drive vintage jeeps? ive tried two forums so far and all i can find are people that buy these classic beauties only to mutilate and molest with silly modifications and rather annoying engine swaps.... and if youre willing to...

solex vs weber vs carter - vintage jeeps

it seems everyones in agreement that the carter carburators arent that good, having not worked on one myself, i cannot comment as to why it might be, but it seems like the webers for the vintage jeeps arent worth the $300 more than it would cost to buy a new solex.. and i also heard the solex...

Thinking of building a four link set up

sounds like a lot of work for a relatively small increase in travel and a greater loss in strength and reliability vs leaf springs... never seen anything wrong with YJs... seems for the price going into putting links and coils on a YJ, one could just keep that, sell the YJ, and get a TJ

i tried another jeep forum.. all i got was a bunch of guys that wouldnt think twice to ruin a vintage jeep, sad as it is

solex vs weber vs carter - vintage jeeps

so far everyone ive gotten information from has said webers are crap, even in vehicles they were designed for.. and some of these people, as well as others seem to love the solex

solex vs weber vs carter - vintage jeeps

aah, apparently theres an adapter that allows the weber carb to be fitted to the vintage jeep.. my guess its probably the same 1 barrel carb available for later model jeeps

solex vs weber vs carter - vintage jeeps

apparently, weber does make a carb for the vintage jeeps, as well as the solex which seems to be pretty common, and the origional weber i created this post because i used the search feature and cant find anything too related.. so i made it so that in the future it may help others too...

seems to me the small changes made in the CJ3B were really good ones, and though ive heard it called an "ugly duckling", i rather like the aesthetics of it, and it seems like a comfortable compromise between vintage jeeps, and later ones... i think this is the route ill go

superj, its a CJ3B in that photo, the one with the taller hood to make room for the hurricane engine and as it stands im really starting to focus in on the MB or CJ3B.. i would sand off and remove all the rust from the frame and body... por 15 the entire thing most likely, then top coat it all...

to 54cj3b.. so with the hurricane engine.. a jeep can go 65?.. if so, that could be useful.. i think a vehicle should atleast be able to do 55 or 60 if you ever had to go from one city to another... and does that raised hood tend to grow on you?.. im starting to really like that look and to...

Anyone know of some cheap shocks?

not neccessarily true.. a common practice of businesses is to increase the price of their product to play on peoples assumptions that they get what they pay for, so they believe that a higher priced product is better

Anyone know of some cheap shocks?

you could get cheap shocks if you put a 9v battery to your tongue (i couldnt resist that one)

    1956 CJ5 Fuel system replacement

metal or plastic is entirely up to you... metal is more authentic, plastic isnt going to rust... i actually had a fuel tank rust completely through once, but it does seem no matter what you do, rust flakes are never a good thing getting into your engine... id probably go plastic and there is...

Thinking of building a four link set up

yeah, but why? leaf springs are the simplest, most reliable suspension you could have, and capable of doing whatever about 99% of the jeep owners want it to do.. unless you plan on building a purpose specific competition rock crawler, theres not much point to it

does anyone know anything about earlier CJ engines, like the hurricane I4?... is it a decent, reliable engine worth rebuilding? the more i look, the more that old MB design is starting to grow on me... but the more i see the CJ3B and its higher hood.. at first it didnt look right, looked up...
