So yesterday fairly nice day... top down come home put top up back window zipper gets stuck... being angry from it happening before i (idioticaly) pulled harder n which it broke... today rain tomorrow rain n so on through the week....therefore i have no back window and in a frantic to get it fixed been to many upholstry shops who want to replace the whole zipper for 90 bucks or so... why cant they just put a F$%^ing zipper tab on and be done with...


please help

you know how many zippers i've broken the tabs off of and R/R'd them with a little key ring (kind of ghetto but it works....) sucks dont it! (if you mean you didnt break the zipper "traveler" or whatever its called that is....)

LOL Dude your lucky the zipper is still on. I had the same experience about two weeks ago when taking the back window off for the first time this year. Needless to say it's still off and will be forever until I get it fixed. I don't even have a zipper to TAB! I have the freaking whole zipper peice to replace. It ripped right off. I hate a freaking zipper after the jeep experience. They are quite maddening! Good Luck with yours!

Get ya a cheap bar of soap to carry in the Jeep. Each time you want to zip or unzip, rub the soap along the teeth of the zipper....makes zipping a breeze!

I broke the zipper on my Bestop Sunrider soft top. The driver's side window zipper, the half that's attached to the top is ripped. I emailed Bestop to try and get one from them. They said contact my local dealer and they can order me one. Tried three Bestop dealers in my area and all told me Bestop won't sell them. They say Bestop tells them to have the top replaced. I emailed Bestop back two days ago and haven't heard anything yet. I tried to get one half of the zipper for the soft top that'll match the other half on the window from an apholstery shop to be sewen on and none can get a matching zipper. Their recomendation is to replace both sides of the zipper with a completely new one. The problem is that I have two Sunrider soft tops and I like to be able to interchange the windows if needed (tinted/non tinted). Will no longer be able to do that if the zippers are different. Hope Bestop can do something for me.
As for your window zippers sticking, try graphite. It works great although a little messy.

Oh, yeah....a quick and easy source for graphite is a good ol' #2 pencil. Used to use those in school when my zippers on my jeans would get tough to use. Now I don't have any jeans with zippers, so I'd forgotten about that.

ok, old post but i got some more zipper questions!

on my 99 i have zipper windows and today i went to unzip it and it was fine but when i went to put it back up... it wont zip it goes all the way back to the other side but stays wide open... and living in mass and friday is december is going to be a long winter with that... any suggestions?

Maybe missing a tooth? If not try holding the two halves together as you zip.
Is slider engaging both sides of the tracks?
