95 YJ 4 banger-
for the past week, ive noticed everytime i do a cold start, my engine is getting further and further from turning over.

at first it would just take a second, now it seems like its barely starting.

I'm afraid one day i'm going to go out there and it wont start at all..

After driving for 5 mins, it fires up just fine.
What does this sound like? battery problem? starter?

Also, once started, runs perfect....

does it crank slowly when it wont start or just as fast as after it's been running? if no difference, then its not starter or battery.. could be ignition or injectors...

when you crank it... what does your volt meter jump down to

Sounds like ya need a battery! if you need to borrow a multi meter, I got one. I can either leave in your jeep at you work, or I can just meet you there and test it for ya!

thanks johny if it gets any worse ill call ya up. im workin next week-

Mine was turning over a little slow, seemed to be getting slower all the time. Wouldn´t crank altogether one morning, wacked it with a hammer, and it worked pretty good for awhile, then started slowing down again. Just rplaced the brushes, really turns over fast now, the old brushes were worn down almost to the wire, really short.
Battery always tested out to over 14 volts, even after sitting all night.

Those are those things in the back of the starter, that guys like me, too cheap to buy a rebuilt starter, replace.
If I can get my camera program to ever work and I can figure out how to post a picture, I´ll show you. Private message me a MSN E-mail and I can try sending a picture there, have had some luck in the past.
