Ok, I've got 2.5 yrs on my 4inch skyjacker short arm lift and it's served me well (after I scrapped the t-case drop brackets and bought a double cardan rear drive line, and adjustable uppers, and an adjustable track bar). However, it's time to bite the bullet and do it right. I'm running 285 75 16s and don't want to go any bigger, but I'd like a little more clearance. I'd like a 5 or 5.5 inch lift. I'm hoping for a smoother ride, actually, as the articulation doesn't matter quite as much to me. Any one have experience with the RE or Terra flex kits? Any other first hand knowledge?

I wouldn't go any taller on short-arms, you really should upgrade to long arms if a smooth ride is more important to you. The more vertical the short arms become, the rougher the ride as bumps are transferred directly to the frame instead of the spring.

Are you wanting tire clearance or belly skid clearance?

I'm running a Rock Krawler 4.5 long arm, and I'd have to say it rides pretty nice. Granted it could be better, but once you get into the long arms, shocks and spring rates will be you determining factor in ride quality.

My bad.....Yes obviously I'm thinking long arm here. I've read about the ones with rubber mounted ends being significantly smoother/longer lasting than heim/johnny joints albeit with less articulation (not terribly concerning to me). The poly bushings on my short arm are worn out after only 35k miles and are slightly sloppy when I took them out to examine them the other day, likely the cause of some of the rattles I'm hearing. I guess as I contemplete replacing them, I'm also thinking of the long arm kit. I've heard the difference in ride quality is pretty dramatic. Any comments from guys who have ridden in both? How much difference do you think I'll notice?

Also, the trailer's awesome and came from seirra 4x4 trailers in Nevada. This guy's a really great welder and I just pulled the trailer (jeep + loaded trailer= 6500 pounds) from Seattle, WA to Louisiana......pulls like a dream.
